HISTORY
The Sports University
of Central Kansas was founded by Coach Dera in 1999. He named
it after his favorite coach Barry Switzer. The idea was to
unite all sporting excellence under the great coach. Dera
only named the college Switser University College of Kansas and
bought a massive custom-made logo of the schools initials. He did very
little with the school. In 2001, the school was renamed to Switser United College of Kansas after his father-in-law asked him
what he was doing with his college. Soon after, he had a
friend make a half-assed website for it. Six months later he
and his father-in-law created the curricula and they submitted it to
the NAAUCU for accreditation. The NAAUCU agreed to
approve their petitiion if they either gained permission to use the
name, spell it correctly, or removed the coach's name. The
School was renamed Sports United College of Central Kansas.
The acronym had to stay the same because that was the most expensive
part of the college. In 2005, the school was renamed Sports
University of Central Kansas as it moved from Kansas City, Kansas.
Through all the changes the acronym or name abbreviation has
remained the same.
In 2009, the recession hit Sports University. Before the end of the year
the classes were reduced while a new owner could be located.
On 1/11/11, Sports University of Central Kansas gloriously reopened under the ownership of the
Council of The Seven Elders Church.
Reaccreditation was established with the NAAUCU in January of 2011. Under the agreement all students and graduates are
counted as having a degree from an NAAUCU accredited institution. |
